SOOJUNG PARK
Lives and works in Los Angeles.

Soojung Park is a Korean modern artist renowned for her use of plexiglass and ink to produce harmoniously integrated horizontal lines that evoke a painterly image. Park creates a unique visual effect with varying levels of transparency, setting it apart from traditional canvas. She experiences a lengthy process in order to generate these horizontal lines. The artist skillfully manipulates the canvas, etching it horizontally and expertly rubbing in the pigment to bring forth vibrant colored lines that seamlessly blend together. This fusion is evident in the fluid motion of the ink throughout the surface and the precise straight etchings of the lines.

These lines are depicted in a concept of an unending and boundless phenomenon. Every line engages with the others, resulting in distinct viewpoints. When two lines intersect, they provide a novel and distinct viewpoint that is both unique and innovative. These interactions generate an infinite number of distinct associations, however, the artist desires viewers to concentrate on the gaps or intervals between the lines. These spaces represent this "third" perspective, offering a new way to experience and understand the artwork. The artist challenges viewers to discern the underlying significance in these spaces, which arise from the interplay of the lines.
