MIKYUNG KIM
b.1964, Seoul, South Korea. Lives and works in Seoul, South Korea

Mikyung Kim’s geometric paintings encapsulate her inquisition of the lived experience, metaphorically translating aspects that are both personal to herself and universal to our world. As the blocks and forms of color on the surfaces collide, collapse, and coalesce, they reverberate Kim’s relationship to her perception of life, time, and memory.

Kim received her MFA in Fine Art and AS in Graphic Design from Parsons School of Design, New York, NY and BA in English Literature from Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Korea. Her solo and two-person exhibitions have been held at Leeahn Gallery, Daegu, Korea; Datz Press, Seoul, Korea; Gallery 254, Seoul, Korea; Nook Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Gallery b’ONE, Seoul, Korea; Gallery White Birch, Seoul; Alter Ego, Seoul, Korea; Pleiades Gallery, New York, NY; and Amos Eno Gallery, New York, NY. Her work was included in group exhibitions at Dohingart Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Nook Gallery, Seoul, Korea; Datz Museum of Art, Gwangju(Gyeonggi), Korea; OCI Museum of Art, Seoul, Korea; White Block Art Center, Heyri, Korea; Keuboseong Art Center, Seoul, Korea; Deutsche Bank, New York, NY; The Temporary Museum of Painting, Brooklyn, NY; and A.I.R Gallery, New York, NY.
