HYONG NAM AHN
안형남
b.1954, Seoul, Korea. Lives and works in New York City, NYHyong Nam Ahn is multidisciplinary artist, teacher, and poet based in New York City. He received his BFA in Sculpture with a specialization in Kinetics at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1980, and from 1980-1981 was a Professor of Sculpture, Drawing, and Three Dimensional Design at the University of Minnesota. He received a Fulbright Award in 1984-85, and has had over 20 solo exhibitions in galleries and museums across the United States and South Korea.
Ahn focuses on creating visually captivating sculptures that represent the realms of the spiritual and physical worlds. He creates work that is uniquely personal and commensurate with the culture he departed from in Korea.
