HA TAE IM

하태임

b. 1973, based in Seoul, South Korea.

Hae Tae Im (b. 1973) is a Korean modern and contemporary artist known for her color band paintings. Ha and her siblings were raised with art as her parents were well-renown artists. She lived in Paris for nine years following her graduation from the renowned National School of Fine Arts. She established a private art institute once her financial situation stabilized. In Seoul's Hongik University, she earned a PhD while working and raising a kid. Ha said that during her early years in Paris, all of her drawings were self-destructive since she saw life as limited and all of her communication as insufficient. However, as she became more aware of her own understanding, she started to mark passages in her works that she later removed, leaving merely colors. This led to the color bands that she currently uses today.
